JOE'S GOAL WINS IT FOR THE REDS!

Joe Gormley hit the extra-time winner as Cliftonville defeated Glentoran in a closely fought encounter at Windsor Park to claim the BetMcLean Cup for the seventh time!

A first half full of nervous energy produced chances at both ends, with the Glens creating the first effort of note with less than ten minutes on the clock when the ball fell for Kodi Lyons-Foster but he couldn't keep his shot on target.

At the other end, midway through the half, Ryan Curran failed to make the most of the opportunity after the ball bounced around the box before the danger was cleared.

Glentoran keeper Daniel Gyollai was then called into action soon after to keep out Alex Parsons' strong strike while Curran could only nod the rebound wide of the target.

The action continued after the break when David Fisher won the ball from Jack Keaney before bringing it forward and testing Lewis Ridd but the Cliftonville keeper proved equal to the challenge.

Ridd was on top of his game again a few minutes after that to deal with a Jordan Jenkins strike after he had been teed up by Cameron Palmer.

The Reds might have snatched it right at the end of normal time through substitute Joe Gormley's header from a corner but again Gyollai did well to stretch to keep the ball out.

But Gormley did go one better nine minutes into extra-time to fire the Reds in front after Ryan Corrigan performed well to cut through the defence before laying the ball off for the legendary Cliftonville striker to send the ball low into the net.

Glentoran did try and claw their way back into the game as the minutes ticked down, and did cause panic in the Reds defence on occasion albeit without any clear cut openings.

In the closing moments they had their big chance when Danny Amos sent a free-kick over from the left which bypassed the entire Cliftonville backline before landing for Jonathan Russell in front of an open net but he could only flick it agonisingly over.
