PORTS EDGE PAST UNLUCKY VILLAGERS
James Teelan bagged the only goal of the game as fourth placed Portadown edged past bottom of the table Loughgall at Lakeview Park.
The 22-year-old broke the deadlock on 34 minutes when he was alert to a Ryan Mayse backheel to direct the ball past keeper Nathan Gartside.
Portadown might have doubled their lead a few minutes after that through Eamon Fyfe's free-kick towards the left post but Gartside was able to turn the ball behind for a corner.
Niall Currie's looked to add to their advantage after the break but Fyfe and Mayse was thwarted by blocks from the home defence.
The Villagers did come more into the game as the second half progressed, however, when Nathaniel Ferris produced a save from Aaron McCarey to keep out his low drive while, not long after that, the same player cannoned a header against the left post from Robbie Norton's corner.
And they hit the woodwork again a few minutes later after Robbie Mahon crashed a long range effort onto the crossbar with McCarey well beaten.
