GLENAVON MAKE IT THREE IN A ROW
Glenavon made it three wins on the bounce with a Friday night defeat of Dungannon Swifts at Stangmore Park.
The visitors moved in front just short of the half-hour mark. A corner into the box was headed goalwards by Matthew Snoddy to be saved by Declan Dunne while Snoddy's follow up was deflected but only as far as David McDaid who was alert to eventually turn the ball home.
McDaid almost bagged his second just before the break only to be denied by the inside of the post after receiving the ball from Len O'Sullivan but Glenavon did double their lead moments after that when another McDaid effort came off a defender before falling perfectly for Jack Malone to smash first time into the top left corner.
Dungannon pulled a goal back just a couple of minutes after the interval. John McGovern was brought down by Barney McKeown's challenge inside the area, with McGovern duly dusting himself down to step up to convert from the spot into the bottom right corner.
And Rodney McAree's side levelled midway through the second half after Steven Scott sent over a superb cross which Andrew Mitchell rose highest to head home.
But Glenavon had the last laugh ten minutes from time after Paul McGovern travelled down the right before cutting the ball back for Malone to hit his second of the evening past the outstretched Dunne.
