McGOVERN BAGS STOPPAGE TIME GLENAVON WINNER
Glenavon picked up a fourth league win on the bounce following a dramatic victory over Carrick Rangers at Mourneview Park.
Although scoreless at the break both sides had their chances to seize the advantage, with Kurtis Forsythe having the first effort of note after a quarter-of-an-hour only to be denied by Barney McKeown's goalline clearance.
Carrick were reduced to ten men midway through the first half, however, when Benjamin Buchanan-Rolleston was twice cautioned for challenges on Christopher Atherton.
Glenavon came closest to making their extra man count just before the break when Peter Campbell sent over a corner for McKeown to head against the right post while both keepers were later called into action to thwart Luke McCullough and Campbell.
But Campbell wasn't to be denied early in the second half after he got on the end of a Michael O'Connor cross to fire into the bottom right.
Rangers were presented with a great opportunity to level around the hour mark after Forsythe had been brought down in the box by Len O'Sullivan but Joe Crowe could only look on after his subsequent spot-kick was kept out by Mark Byrne.
Stephen Baxter's side did equalise on 90 minutes, though, after Danny Gibson poked the ball over the line from close range after Cian O'Malley's throw-in hadn't been dealt with.
However Glenavon regained the lead - and with it the points - a couple of minutes into stoppage time after substitute Paul McGovern headed home a throw-in to put the cap on a sensational conclusion to the game.
