BANNSIDERS DO ENOUGH TO EDGE OUT 'GERS
Rhyss Campbell grabbed the only goal of the game as Coleraine defeated Carrick Rangers at Taylor's Avenue.
The visitors got off to a bright start when, inside the opening minute, Levi Ives produced a superb volley - from a Matthew Shevlin ball - that fell just the wrong side of an upright.
Unfortunately it was a fairly uneventful first half with only a Dylan Boyle harmless effort just after the half-hour mark being the only other opening of note.
Things picked up somewhat after the break when, six minutes into the second half, Cian O'Malley volleyed the ball towards the goal only to see it well tipped over the top by keeper Rory Brown.
At the other end Ives threatened again, once more from Shevlin's lay-off, but could only drag his effort wide of the target.
For Carrick substitute Adam Foley was only on the pitch a matter of moments when he produced another good stop out of Brown to deal with a header from Luke McCullough's cross.
But the deadlock was eventually broken with just under a quarter-of-an-hour remaining when, from a Connor Murray corner, Campbell bundled the ball over the line at the far post.
Campbell might have doubled his tally not long after that with a 25-yard right foot effort that sailed narrowly over the top.
Carrick had two late chances to bag the leveller with Paul Heatley sending the ball just wide from the area of the area while Jack O'Reilly sent a low drive just past the near post.
