AMOS WONDER GOAL WINS IT FOR GLENS
Danny Amos struck a stunning 90th minute winner as Glentoran claimed all three points from Dungannon Swifts' visit to the BetMcLean Oval.
Finlay Thorndike created the first effort of note inside the opening minutes with a free-kick that curled off target while, around ten minutes after that, Johnny Russell couldn't keep his header on target from another set piece.
Glentoran continued to create the best of what chances there were with Jordan Jenkins sending a left-foot strike just wide midway through the first half.
They came close again later in the half when Cameron Palmer was denied by a great stop from keeper Declan Dunne to thwart a right-foot strike from just outside the area while, towards the break, Jenkins will feel he could have done better with a free header.
After the break Thorndike struck another free kick just wide of the target before, midway through the second half, Christie Pattison just failed to find the net with a right foot drive from outside the box.
The visitors might have found a way through a few minutes after that when Gael Bigirimana picked the ball up before finding James Knowles but his strike from distance was a little too high to register.
However, what proved to be the only goal of the game, came right at the end of normal time when the ball reached Amos outside the area and, without hesitating, he unleashed an unstoppable rising first time effort beyond Dunne's reach and into the top corner.
