MITCHELL GOAL ENOUGH FOR SWIFTS
Andrew Mitchell grabbed the only goal of the game as Dungannon Swifts defeated Larne at Inver Park.
The home side might have moved in front early on when Chris Gallagher's through ball reached Andy Ryan inside the area but his low effort was well saved by Swifts keeper Declan Dunne.
Larne continued to create the better chances with Ryan dragging another effort wide a little later in the first half while Olatunde Bayode could only fire straight at Dunne from a good position a few minutes after that.
But Dungannon broke the deadlock right on the stroke of half-time after Brandon Bermingham delivered a perfectly delivered through ball for Mitchell to calmly sweep beyond the outstretched Rohan Ferguson.
Bayode was presented with a great opportunity to level for Larne early in the second half when he found himself unmarked at the far post only to volley over from close range.
The visitors could have doubled their lead soon after, though, when John McGovern sent the ball over to the far side of the goal but it clipped the crossbar before falling to safety.
Larne hit the woodwork themselves in the closing stages in pursuit of the equaliser after the ball was knocked around the area from a free-kick before it eventually hit the crossbar.
