FIRST HALF DOUBLE SEES OFF VILLAGERS
Glenavon returned to winning ways with a two-goal defeat of bottom of the table Loughgall at Lakeview Park.
Both goals came in the first half with Christopher Atherton breaking the deadlock on 18 minutes when he raced through the static home defence to finish low past Nathan Gartside.
Then, just after the half-hour mark, Jack Malone doubled up with a header from Peter Campbell’s left-sided cross.
Michael O'Connor came within a whisker of adding a third before the break after he pounced on a botched clearance only to see his volley against the woodwork from just outside the six yard box.
The visitors continued to create the better opportunities in the second half, with Niall Quinn testing Nathan Gartside with a fierce free-kick from outside the area early on.
Then, later in the half, O'Connor was a danger again when he looked poised to connect with a Quinn free-kick to make it 3-0 only for Lewis Francis to make a vital touch to deny him.
