COOPER AT THE DOUBLE
Joel Cooper found the net twice in the second half as Linfield defeated Glenavon at Windsor Park.
A slow start to the game meant it took over half-an-hour for the first effort of note when Josh Archer had a go from outside the area only for the ball to drift wide.
Indeed, the only other opportunity in the first half came right at the end after David Toure tested David Walsh with a right-foot shot but the Linfield stopper proved equal to the danger.
However the deadlock was broken seven minutes after the break when the ball came off Len O'Sullivan into Cooper's path to knock home from close range.
Kirk Millar came close to adding a second soon after only to send his right-foot effort just wide of the far post.
But they did make sure of the points with seven minutes remaining when Cooper stepped up to send Mark Byrne the wrong way from the spot after Harry Murphy was penalised for pushing.
