STRIKERS GET TUFFEY ERA OFF TO WINNING START
Crusaders Strikers strengthened their grip on third place with a two-goal victory in Strabane over Sion Swifts Ladies.
The result moves the Crues six points clear of Sion - who have played a game more - with an unfortunate own goal from Leah McGonagle opening the scoring in the 55th minute.
The Strikers - being coached for the first time by Jonathan Tuffey after Spike Hill’s exit earlier this week - doubled their lead midway through Amy McGivern to earn an impressive win.
The scoring was opened ten minutes after the break when McGonagle put the ball into her own net following a dangerous cross from Emily Wilson.
McGivern added a second six minutes later when she flicked home from a corner.
Sion earned a penalty when Julie Nelson felled Caoirse Doherty inside the box but Kerryanne Brown blazed over from the spot.
